Common Expression

In English, there are two ways of introducing one self. The

first one is formal way. This way of speaking is done when you

are interacting with new people in seminars, business, offices,

etc. The other one is informal way. It is used when you talk with

people younger than you or new people you meet in a bus,

supermarket, beach, etc.


INFORMAL  • Colleagues

                       • Friends,family members



PORMAL       • Employee-boss,teacher

                          student

                       • Strangers

                       • Younger people - older people

                        

From the dialogues above, you can see the different

expressions used in formal and informal contexts, especially

the ones used to start and to end the conversations. These

expressions are called greeting and leave taking. When you

begin talking and stop talking with someone, you must use

these expressions.

The Chili Plant Experience Orientation A few months ago, my English teacher gave us a special assignment: to grow chili plants at home. I was excited but also nervous because I had never done it before. I decided to plant the chilies in front of my house using a small pot and soil I prepared by myself. Complication At first, I didn’t know if I was doing it right. I just put the chili seeds into the soil and watered them once a day. But after a few days, the weather was very hot, and I forgot to water them regularly. The soil became dry, and the seeds didn’t grow. I was a bit disappointed and thought the seeds wouldn’t survive.
